I've bought some asparagus plants from marshalls-seeds. This is something that takes a long time to grow, but I am sure cutting my very own asparagus fresh will be worth the wait.

I bought two kinds of asparagus, Amaro Montina and Gijnlim. From what I've read online I need to let it grow and cover them with more soil as they grow, similar to potatoes. For the first year I should not cut them and just let them grow and establish good root systems and then on year two...bingo we're in the asparagus!

I've added some potato fertilizer, not sure if that was a good or bad idea. At the end of the day the fertilizer from the allotment shop is amazing stuff and since I can't disturb the roots while the asparagus is in...let's see what happens.

The plants was posted to me and packaged very nicely, you can see it is good quality plants with little asparagus spears already growing on them.

As per usual my two little helpers is at the ready to catch any stray worms or dig a hole.

The roots look like spiders, the one on the left has its roots covered and the one on the right is just before I've covered the roots.

All covered up and now we wait...
